Food Forest & Island of Fertility

We teach all you need to know so you can grow healthy fruit trees and other edible perennial plants, the Orchard of Flavours’ way.

This is a condensed version of almost all the practices that can be observed at our site, but also — and most importantly — that which you cannot see but is crucial to achieve the best results.

Fruit Tree Propagation Workshop

You’ll learn how to successfully use the best techniques to propagate the plants you already have, or new exciting ones you want to introduce into your garden.

It’s easier than you think! Have fun, learn and save money.

The Orchard of Flavours botanical garden offers you the unique opportunity to take cuttings from our edible plants and come back with rare species or varieties that you can propagate for yourself.

Fruit Tree Care Workshop: Pruning, Fertilizing & Watering

Delve into the art and science of fruit tree maintenance, guided by Dror Avital, an experienced plant biologist who’s also the scientific advisor to the Orchard.

Explore intricate pruning techniques, uncover the mysteries of how plants eat and drink so you can correctly nourish your own orchard, and gain insights into optimal irrigation practices to ensure the vitality and longevity of your fruit trees.

Mini Food Forest Workshop

Luís Afonso and Ana Laura Cruz, founders of The Biggest Mini Forest project, will guide you through the model they designed to create dense, biodiverse and fast-growing Mini Food Forests, in order to give you the practical knowledge on how to Start Mini and Go Big.

This is a workshop for those who want to create a Mini Food Forest on their own land and connect to like-minded people with the same goal in the Algarve region and beyond, becoming part of The Biggest Mini Forest Movement.
